Alangulam is a panchayat town in Tirunelveli district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the fastest growing towns in Tirunelveli District. It act as a trade center for the nearby villages. Being located in the junction of Tirunelveli-Tenkasi-Ambasamudram roads, it acts as a local hub thriving to become an important business center.

As of 2001[update] India census,[3] Alangulam had a population of 17,922. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Alangulam has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 54% of the males and 46% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Alangulam assembly constituency is part of tirunelveli (Lok Sabha constituency).[4]
